We don't.. although we've learned a few phrases since being here..

Through all the cheap hotels, rainy afternoons, broken suitcases & worn-out shoes, we actually do have quite a few stories to share! Here are a few of the highlights of our trip so far. We have three days left together, until Ty has to go back to finish his tour. Three more months for him (hopefully) and then he'll be home.

Hearing Loss and other news...

Just to let you all know...
If you send Ty packages or letters, his address is now at 3rd Platoon instead of 4th.

Also,
The Commander recently found out he has some heart problems (I think?). Due to this, he is going home, and the Unit will be getting a new Commander in the near future. They may even have the transition completed as I am typing this. Ty thinks this change will be very positive for the whole troop.

Ty's been having some ear problems, and recently found out his ear drum had been ruptured from the army doc. Hopefully it doesn't result in long-term hearing loss, but I guess we'll have to wait to find out.

I think that's it for now!

Thanks for the continued support. We are anticipating our visit in mid-July.

The Long Awaited News

Well, it's been awhile since this blog has been updated.. Which doesn't make sense since Ty got the Internet in his room.. But, I guess I do get a little upset when he's busy doing something else on the internet and isn't giving his full attention to me when we're chatting (well...what do you expect?)

Anyways, to fill everyone in real quickly --
One member of the unit was killed a week or so ago. That has been shocking for the guys, even those that didn't know the soldier too well. He wasn't in Ty's platoon, so they have been covering more missions while the other platoon took some time off.

This morning, Ty found out his leave dates!! They are now allotting 3 days for travel on either side of the 14 day R&R.. so that makes 20 days possibly!! July 18 we are planning on meeting in Germany to spend a few weeks together. I just have to have enough patience now to last until July 18th!

That's about it right now.. Hopefully he'll be able to post something soon!

Well we got to spend the day at FOB Normandy. A little, little FOB in Northeast Iraq. And I had this cool picture to put up here for Kevins Birthday but we had to RON last night and I forgot my cable to my camera so sorry Kevin the pic will have to wait untill I get home tonight. But anyways as my lovely wife stated in the post before this I do have internet in my room now so look for more updates more often and I will even be posting some videos from some of our adventures here in Iraq. My time is almost up on the internet here so Ill let everyone go for now but I just wanted to make a post to tell Kevin Happy Birthday.

As Anne mentioned in an earlier post I got to ventrue down to Tilli, Iraq to see my brother. We got to spend about 14hrs together. Not a whole lot of time but time together none the less. It was a fun time and he showed me around his base and what he did there. But in the end I had to return to LSAA and he well got to go back to the great US and A. By the way Eli if you see this thanks again for the sweet fat loots you gave me.

Well Thanks to the O'Neill Girl Scouts our Platoon was well fed with cookies, woderful ones I might add. Two whole cases of them. So I would like to give a very well deserved thankyou to the Girl Scouts of O'Neill, NE. The mint ones are the best!!!

Well we may be half a world away from Lincoln, NE. But thanks to my wonderful wife we still have team spirt. After I put up the flag I got many commets on it. And I've seen more than one person take a picture of it. So good job on the sweet flag Anne!!! :)

I'm sure I have told most of you.. but if not, Ty and Eli (his brother) were able to spend some time together a few weeks ago. They spent quality time playing video games :) Eli has now been sent home.. His extension didn't ever get started.. He is in Missouri debriefing right now, and will hopefully be back in Nebraska this weekend...

As for Ty, i'm still waiting for pictures to put up on here. So you'll have to continue to use your imagination until they get sent. He did say that they have been really busy lately - going on many more missions that usual. He also lost all of his socks when he was doing his laundry (they didn't get returned to him) So, he's been buying socks like crazy.

Hello everyone.. its Anne. I thought i would just post a quick update since Ty is having some troubles getting Internet. He is continually working on getting Internet in his room, but keeps running into roadblocks. Hopefully he'll have it up soon, so he can update everyone himself!

In the past few weeks, he has had to get his top wisdom teeth out. That has kept him out of missions (yes! for me...but not for him!) He said the days go so much faster when they're out on missions.

He loves getting mail -- thank you for all that has been sent! He did give up candy & snacks for Lent, so keep that in mind if you send something in the next few weeks! I tried to tell him that 1) He's not Catholic, and 2) He's sacrificing his life, so giving up candy should be the least of his worries... but he insists on it!.. So.. kudos to Ty!

Keep up the prayers... they're needed!

Well we made it safely to LSA Anaconda. Everything is going good they keep us pretty busy and right now our platoon is waiting on 2 satellite dishes so we can have internet access. Geographically we are located near Balad, Iraq. I also have a lot of pictures to post but I can't do that on the military computers so as soon as we get internet up Ill be sure to post the ones I can. I'd like to thank everyone that sent christmas gifts and birthday gifts they were great. Andy if you happen to stumble into this blog thanks for the book its pretty good so far and your gift is on the way sorry it took so long to get to you. Love everyone, Miss you all and I hope to see you in my next post.

I guess I updated the blog too soon.. Ty did make it back to base safely, but not until 5:30 a.m. I don't know the whole story, but hopefully I will hear it later today! The send-off ceremony is scheduled from 11-2 p.m. in MS, and then the soldiers are 'free' to deploy.

Ty made it back to Mississippi safely... I guess thats a good thing. After some delays because of weather (in Memphis), and a changed arrival into New Orleans instead of Gulfport, they finally made it. Good thing Ty didn't check in his backpack and other electronics..he's not sure if he will be getting his one checked item back (his bathroom stuff- because of the gel).

The big send off ceremony for the boys is tomorrow (November 29) and then begins the wait until 'the big day.' Hopefully we will find out soon when they arrive. They call the first day "boots on ground" - and then begins the 1 year countdown!

in them so we could start getting
used to them. It wasn't so bad
except that it rained the entire
road march.

9mm Handgun: The 9mm is the sidearm that we carry around on our hip. It is the smallest of all the weapons that we will have with us while we are in Iraq. When we were at this range we had to hit 17 out of 30 targets to qualify. I belive I hit 21 out of 30 if I remember right.

Ty found out he has his leave from November 22-28. Yipee! He is given one day too and from for travel..and is still deciding on how to get home.. he's thinking he might rent a car with some other soldiers so they can take turns and drive through the night.. Unsure at this time, though..
I'll try not to hog him and let him spend time with the rest of our families.. we will still try to make it to the Willis & Tucker houses for Thanksgiving! The 22nd couldn't come any sooner!

Hey everyone its Me(Ty) finally!!! Sorry it has taken a while to make a post but we have been busy with training(As you can see). I have many more picture and videos to post so hopefully we will have internet soon so I can get those up. I would like to thank Anne for posting the pictures that are up now. I got to talk to Ty last night but he was deep into a game on the Xbox -- he said he was busy all day, but they were rewarded for their intense training by having a pizza party! They even got pop - which they hadn't been able to have for a few days (6 Ty said! He was going through withdrawl!) Anyways, he said things may finally be settling down - at least for a day! But as soon as he says that, it seems like they get busy again! At least he was able to relax with video games last night :)

Hello everyone! I have decided to finally post something on Ty's blog (this is Anne) -- not sure if anyone will read this (or if Ty will keep it up..) but hopefully some use is made of it!

Ty is 'content' in Mississippi (now that he has TV to watch and play XBox on...).. He is staying busy with PT, Training & lots of classes.. but always seems to find time to call me! He appreciates the thoughts, prayers, letters and packages that he has received so far!! (And the podcasts, too) :)He appreciates the support from everyone (and I do too!) I guess this is all for now - we hope that by next post we will have some news on his first leave!
